TVR/GWR Covered Carriage Truck (Python)
These covered carriage trucks were built in 1904, the last surviving to 1952. A good illustration of one in later BR condition appears on Page 71 of OPC's 'Gt Western Coaches - Pt II' by Russell.
As built, these vehicles had full length stepboards, hinged down vac pipes, were possibly through piped for Westinghouse brakes, had waistline handrails extending from the centre doors to the ends, together with lamp brackets at the top window height at the bodyside ends. The end doors were secured with a central rotating clasp the buffer stocks had drop door supports fitted. In later years, all of these details were modified or removed.
The CCT's were originally fitted with 3ft 7in Mansell disc wheels, although later plain disc wheels of the same diameter may have been fitted.
The kit consists of an etched brass body and chassis with whitemetal detailing parts and sprung buffers. A pre-formed brass roof is supplied. The chassis has rocking W-Iron suspension.
Wheels and couplings are needed to complete the kit.
