In 1871 the Metropolitan Carriage and Wagon Company built 5 of these horseboxes for the Furness Railway, a further 16 were built nine years later in 1880. All were allocated to Diagram 38 in the Furness diagram book.

They were only provided with a handbrake and did not have steam heating connections.

Originally they had 3ft 0in Mansell disc wheels.

The kit consists of an etched brass body and chassis with whitemetal detailing parts and sprung buffers. A pre-formed brass roof is supplied. The chassis has rocking W-Iron suspension.

Wheels and couplings are needed to complete the kit.
