MR/LMS/BR 3250 gallon Tender
HISTORY
These tenders were built in large numbers together with others of varying water capacity. During their life some were fitted with water pickup apparatus and another variation incorporated a vertical coal plate just ahead of the front coal rail supports. The rails being terminated at this plate. Both of these variations can be built into this model.
Details of this and other types of Johnson MR tenders can be obtained from an article by K C Woodhead in the December '75 issue of Model Railways and also in volume 1 of An Illustrated Review of Midland Locomotives by R J Essery & D Jenkinson.
THE KIT
The kit has an etched brass body and an etched nickel silver chassis. Castings are whitemetal except for the vacuum pipes which are cast brass and the axleboxes which are plastic. The kit has been temporarily removed from our standard range whilst it is being upgraded. Contact us for availability if you need one. Bearings are supplied to make a rigid chassis although the chassis can be easily compensated using proprietary hornblocks, we suggest the use of our own, see the Accessories section of this website for further details. Wheels need to be purchased separately, we can supply Slaters finescale wheels.
